AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Bring your picnic and chairs to Auburn’s beautiful School Park Preserve and enjoy the true story of “The Biggest Little Farm” on Saturday, Aug. 15.

This entertaining documentary chronicles the eight-year quest of two would-be farmers (and their beloved dog) as they trade city living for 200 acres and a dream to build one of the most diverse farms of its kind in complete coexistence with nature. Featuring breathtaking cinematography and captivating animals, this farm drafts a blueprint for better living and a healthier planet.

Sponsored by the Arts Council of Placer County and presented free to the public in partnership

with Auburn Arts Commission, this documentary follows John and Molly Chester’s attempt to

create the utopia they seek. Their work included planting 10,000 orchard trees, hundreds of

crops, and bringing in animals of every kind – including darling Emma the pig and her best

friend, Greasy the rooster.

When the farm’s ecosystem finally begins to reawaken, John and Molly’s plan to create perfect

harmony takes a series of wild turns. Through perseverance and embracing the opportunity

provided by nature's conflicts, they discover a biodiverse design for living that exists far beyond

their farm, its seasons, and our wildest imagination.

The documentary will premiere at the Auburn School Park Preserve on 55 College Way at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15. The expected run time is 1 hour and 31 minutes. 

Although admission is free, donations are gratefully accepted. Bring you chairs and come early to claim your spot!
