ROCKLIN, CA (MPG) - Following the closing of the polls on June 2, the Placer County Elections Office has released initial results of the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election on its website at https://www.placercountyelections.gov/election-results/.
This initial release includes vote totals from 78,093 vote-by-mail ballots submitted to the Elections Office by mail or official ballot drop box prior to Election Day.
Additional updates are tentatively scheduled for 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. June 2; these results will include vote totals from ballots cast in Placer County vote centers during the in-person voting period, May 23–June 2.
The Placer County Elections Office will continue to process the thousands of anticipated vote-by-mail ballots returned on or just before Election Day. Results are scheduled to be updated on the Placer County Elections website every Tuesday and Friday until certified July 2 following a post-election audit of the election called a canvass.
During the canvass, vote-by-mail, conditional voter registration and provisional ballots not counted on election night are researched to validate eligibility. Ballots cast in no less than one percent (1%) of randomly selected precincts and vote centers are hand-counted and balanced against the computer counts to verify the accuracy of the tally system. Election officials are also responsible for preparing the county’s official statement of vote following mandated audits. The canvass concludes with the certification and issuance of official election results.
