AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The Placer County Elections Office has announced that the canvass and certification of the Nov. 5, General Election has been completed and that results are now considered official.

Under Chapter 4 of California election code, county elections offices are required to perform several post-election canvassing activities to ensure the accuracy of election results, including a manual tally (i.e., hand count) of randomly selected ballots. More than 5% (nearly 12,600) of all ballots cast in Placer County were included in this manual tally; canvass results demonstrated that ballots were counted correctly and accurately by elections equipment.
