AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Join us for this popular annual event featuring the world’s best new paddling films that include whitewater, sea kayak, canoe, and stand up paddleboard (SUP) action. Be inspired to explore rivers, lakes and oceans; push extremes and appreciate wild places. Then, go paddling. We’re pretty sure you’ll want to.
Local nonprofit Protect American River Canyons (PARC) sponsored this festival and their members selected the films that will be featured, including:
There’s Good in Everything, Winner Best Whitewater – Chilean whitewater legend shows how mindset on the river allows paddlers to find the good in everything.
Driving Sweep, Winner Best Rafting – Follows river guide Katie Veteto as she learns how to drive a 4,000-pound sweep boat down steep, rocky rapids in Idaho’s Salmon River.
A Canoe Perspective – This film documents paddling a formidable circuit in the Scottish Highlands while exploring why canoeing is more than just recreation; it’s also a way of finding purpose and perspective.
Whatever Floats Your Goat, Winner Best Short – Nico lives in her Sprinter van with two goats, three chickens and a dog. Spend a day with Nico goat-packing a raft up to a high mountain lake in this quirky short film.
Paddle Tribal Waters II: Bring the Salmon Home– After a successful program in 2022, the Paddle Tribal Waters initiative welcomes a new cohort of Indigenous youth into its beginner kayaking program.
