The Women’s Transportation Seminar Nominations Board has unanimously voted to award the Placer County Department of Public Works and Facilities the WTS 2016 Employer of the Year Award.
The award is designed to recognize businesses and organizations that support the goals and purpose of WTS, an international organization dedicated to building the transportation industry through the advancement of women.
“With a diverse workforce and continued support and advancement of women, the Placer County Department of Public Works stands out as a leader in closing the transportation industry’s workforce gap,” said Stacey Alliguie, WTS-Sacramento Chapter president. “The county not only hires, promotes and retains women in leadership positions but also recognizes and rewards the valuable contributions that all women bring to the industry, from student interns to department managers.”
Women account for approximately 23 percent of the 332 employees in Placer County’s Department of Public Works. Ten of its female employees are in management and senior positions responsible for managing millions of dollars in transportation projects.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by WTS as the 2016 Employer of the Year,” said Ken Grehm, director of public works and facilities at Placer County. “Our department is proud to have such outstanding employees who exude dedication and diligence every day in serving the citizens of Placer County.”
